And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;


And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Ja´besh–gil´e-ad were they that buried Saul.


Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,


So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.


And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.


Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.


I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:


with whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.


And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.


And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;


For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.


And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.


Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.


And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:


Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gil´e-ad, and Manas´seh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gil´e-ad, and from Mizpeh of Gil´e-ad he passed over unto the children of Ammon.


And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshta´ol.


And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.


And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chu´shan–rishatha´im king of Mesopota´mi-a into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chu´shan–rishatha´im.


And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elka´nah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.


Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?


and the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.


And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.


Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth´lehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.


And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul.


And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
