For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.


Jehosh´aphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at E´zi-on–ge´ber.


Then said Ahazi´ah the son of Ahab unto Jehosh´aphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehosh´aphat would not.


He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.


She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.


And they departed from Ebro´nah, and encamped at E´zi-on–ge´ber.


And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Se´ir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from E´zi-on–ge´ber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
