And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.


And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.


Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.


And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's anointed.


And Ab´salom made Ama´sa captain of the host instead of Jo´ab: which Ama´sa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Ab´igail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeru-i´ah Jo´ab's mother.


Let it rest on the head of Jo´ab; and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Jo´ab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.


For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.


And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeru-i´ah be too hard for me: the Lord shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.


how much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?


The king said moreover to Shim´e-i, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father; therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head:


Moreover thou knowest also what Jo´ab the son of Zeru-i´ah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Ama´sa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.


then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.


but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:


behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:


If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasue´rus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.


His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.


I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.


But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.


that the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubba´al might come, and their blood be laid upon Abim´elech their brother, which slew them, and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.


and all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubba´al.


And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.
