it came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.


And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Ab´salom returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face.


So Ab´salom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.


So Jo´ab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Ab´salom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Ab´salom.


And Bath–she´ba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?


Then Bath–she´ba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.


And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall not a hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.


Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,


And the king sent and called for Shim´e-i, and said unto him, Build thee a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any whither.


My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
