When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,


(though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)


And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.


And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.


Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.


For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.


For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.


But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things.


but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but, by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.


For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
