And the Lord sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.


And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidi´ah, because of the Lord.


And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.


And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.


And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benai´ah the son of Jehoi´ada, and the Cher´ethites, and the Pel´ethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:


But Zadok the priest, and Benai´ah the son of Jehoi´ada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shim´e-i, and Re´i, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adoni´jah.


And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.


Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.


And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.


So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.


Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.


for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.


Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.


And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house unto the name of the Lord my God:


Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:


Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,


But the ark of God had David brought up from Kir´jath–je´arim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.


until I find out a place for the Lord, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.


Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubim of cunning work shalt thou make them.


Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?


I Nebuchadnez´zar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:


Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste?


Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.


who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
