The poor is hated even of his own neighbor: but the rich has many friends.


He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to poverty.


For if you love them who love you, what reward have you? do not even the tax collectors the same?


He has filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he has sent empty away.


And her neighbors and her cousins heard how the Lord had showed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.


For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.


But when you give a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:


Now in return for the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be you also enlarged in heart.
