Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away a house which he built not;


He crouches, and lies low, that the poor may fall by his strength.


You have seen it: for you behold mischief and spite, to repay it with your hand: the poor commits himself unto you; you are the helper of the fatherless.


The wicked in his pride does persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.


He sits in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places does he murder the innocent: his eyes are secretly set against the poor.


For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that sneers at him.


You have shamed the counsel of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.


He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker: but he that honors him has mercy on the poor.

If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter: for the high official is watched by a higher one ; and there are yet higher ones over them.


He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

What? have you not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise you the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.


And you have respect to him that wears the fine clothing, and say unto him, Sit here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand there, or sit here under my footstool:


Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them who have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.


You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.
