And having heard, they wondered, and having left him, they departed.


And the scribes and chief priests heard, and they sought how they might destroy him : for they feared him, for all the crowd were struck with amazement at his teaching.

And the chief priests and scribes sought to lay hands upon him in the same hour; and they feared the people: for they knew he spake this parable against them.


And if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded John to be a prophet.


Then said some of the Jerusalemites' Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?


Then sought they to seize him: and none put the hand upon him, for his hour had not yet come.


And some of them wished to seize him; but none put hands upon him.
