For the rod of the unjust one shall not rest upon the lot of the just; so that the just shall not stretch forth their hand in iniquity.


In that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report of Jesus,


For Herod, having seized John, bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias, his brother Philip's wife:


The festivities of Herod's birthday being celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.


Then shall they deliver you to pressure, and they shall kill you: and ye shall be hated by all nations, for my name.


I being with you daily in the temple, ye stretched not forth the hands upon me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.


Remember the word which I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they expelled me, they will also expel you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.


They shall make you excluded from the synagogue: but the hour comes that every one having slain you should think to bring service to God.


Which also they did, having sent to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.


And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.


In thy stretching out thy hand for healing; and signs and wonders to be for the name of thine holy child Jesus.


Then truly the churches through the Whole of Judea and Galilee and Samaria, had peace, being built up; and going in the fear of the Lord, and in the consolation of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.
