You have been very kind to me. You did many good things for me. The first time I traveled across the Jordan River, I owned nothing—only my walking stick. But now I own enough things to have two full groups.


Lord, you have heard what the poor want. Listen to their prayers, and do what they ask.


He gave the command and healed them, so they were saved from the grave.


because when he speaks, things happen. And if he says, “Stop!”—then it stops.


“Get the special walking stick. Take your brother Aaron and the crowd of people and go to that rock. Speak to the rock in front of the people. Then water will flow from the rock, and you can give that water to the people and to their animals.”


“I baptize you with water to show that you have changed your hearts and lives. But there is someone coming later who is able to do more than I can. I am not good enough to be the slave who takes off his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.


But John tried to stop him. John said, “Why do you come to me to be baptized? I should be baptized by you!”


Jesus touched the man. He said, “I want to heal you. Be healed!” Immediately the man was healed from his leprosy.


Jesus said to the officer, “I will go and heal him.”


I know this, because I understand authority. There are people who have authority over me, and I have soldiers under my authority. I tell one soldier, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell another soldier, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and my servant obeys me.”


I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But let me be like one of your hired workers.’


The son said, ‘Father, I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’


The fishermen were all amazed at the many fish they caught. When Simon Peter saw this, he bowed down before Jesus and said, “Go away from me, Lord. I am a sinful man!”


He is the one who is coming later. I am not good enough to be the slave who unties the strings on his sandals.”
