So they show that what Isaiah said about them is true: ‘You people will listen and listen, but you will not understand. You will look and look, but you will not really see.


Jesus closed the book, gave it back to the helper, and sat down. As everyone in the synagogue watched him closely,


Everyone there said good things about Jesus. They were amazed to hear him speak such wonderful words. They said, “How is this possible? Isn’t he Joseph’s son?”


You carefully study the Scriptures. You think that they give you eternal life. These same Scriptures tell about me!


But God said these things would happen. Through the prophets he said that his Messiah would suffer and die. I have told you how God made this happen.
