The firstborn bore a son, and named him Mo'av. He is the father of the Mo`avim to this day.


The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben-`Ammi. He is the father of the children of `Ammon to this day.


The burden of Mo'av: for in a night, `Ar of Mo'av is laid waste, and brought to nothing; for in a night Kir of Mo'av is laid waste, and brought to nothing.


We have heard of the pride of Mo'av, that he is very proud; even of his arrogance, his pride, and his wrath. His boastings are nothing.


Thus says the LORD against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Yisra'el to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Yehudah from among them.


Of Mo'av. Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: Woe to Nevo 1! for it is laid waste; Kiryatayim is disappointed, it is taken; Misgav is put to shame and broken down.


Of the children of `Ammon. Thus says the LORD: Has Yisra'el no sons? has he no heir? why then does Malkam possess Gad, and his people well in the cities of it?


You have heard their reproach, LORD, and all their devices against me,


You, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the children of `Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say you, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;


The word of the LORD came to me, saying,


You shall know that I, the LORD, have heard all your insults which you have spoken against the mountains of Yisra'el, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.


Thus says the Lord GOD: Because the enemy has said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are ours in possession;


Thus says the LORD: *For three transgressions of the children of `Ammon, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have ripped open the pregnant women of Gil`ad, that they may enlarge their border.


Thus says the LORD: *For three transgressions of Mo'av, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;


This they will have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of Armies.


The LORD said to Yehoshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, to this day.
