Though this house is so high, yet shall everyone who passes by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus to this land, and to this house?


Let me sing for my well beloved a song of my beloved about his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a very fruitful hill.


Then I said, *Lord, how long?* He answered, *Until cities are waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land becomes utterly waste,


Behold, your house is left to you desolate.


Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'*


For it is written in the book of Tehillim, 'Let his habitation be made desolate. Let no one dwell therein;' and, 'Let another take his office.'
