but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy.


Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.


Their own tongues shall ruin them. All who see them will shake their heads.


Yet say you, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? when the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live.


*Woe to you, scribes and Perushim, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.


Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.


Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.


Therefore also the wisdom of God said, 'I will send to them prophets and emissaries; and some of them they will kill and persecute,


who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.


Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
