The LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.


He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood opposite him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,


Ya`akov awakened out of his sleep, and he said, *Surely the LORD is in this place, and I didn't know it.*


Ya`akov lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esav was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Le'ah, Rachel, and the two handmaids.


He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, *Who are these with you?* He said, *The children whom God has graciously given your servant.*


For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.


The LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath of it.
