They rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and [went] after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged those who they should not do like them.


Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul.


I hate those who regard lying vanities, but I trust in the LORD.


Deliver me out of the mire, and don't let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.


But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock.


LORD, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, [even] vanity and things in which there is no profit.


For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.


Hear, you peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth, and all that is therein: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.


and don't turn aside; for [then would you go] after vain things which can't profit nor deliver, for they are vain.
