that you will take up this parable against the king of Bavel, and say, *How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!*


Then shall you tell them, Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David's throne, and the Kohanim, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, with drunkenness.


behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and [I will send] to Nevukhadnetzar 1 the king of Bavel, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


A drought is on her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is a land of engraved images, and they are mad over idols.


The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought Sava'im from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on the hands of them [twain], and beautiful crowns on their heads.


As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass,


and wherever the children of men dwell, the animals of the field and the birds of the sky has he given into your hand, and has made you to rule over them all: you are the head of gold.


Another, a second angel, followed, saying, *Bavel the great has fallen, which has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality.*


with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality, and those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her sexual immorality.*


The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth.


The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.


For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.*


for true and righteous are his judgments. For he has judged the great prostitute, who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and he has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.*
