for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the LORD that the LORD has sent us to destroy it.*


The LORD said, *My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; yet will his days be one hundred twenty years.*


They rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and [went] after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged those who they should not do like them.


Therefore the Lord, the LORD of Armies, the Mighty One of Yisra'el, says: *Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies;


You have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices; but you have burdened me with your sins. You have wearied me with your iniquities.


He said, *Listen now, house of David: Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?


You have rejected me, says the LORD, you are gone backward: therefore have I stretched out my hand against you, and destroyed you; I am weary with repenting.


to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.


House of David, thus says the LORD, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.


Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, against the shepherds who feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings, says the LORD.


I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.


This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Bavel seventy years.


[to wit], Yerushalayim, and the cities of Yehudah, and the kings of it, and the princes of it, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;


He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land is become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppressing [sword], and because of his fierce anger.


then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.


I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them;


because they have not listened to my words, says the LORD, with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear, says the LORD.


All your lovers have forgotten you; they don't seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.


Behold, I will command, says the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Yehudah a desolation, without inhabitant.


Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Yehudah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.


For thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: As my anger and my wrath has been poured forth on the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, so shall my wrath be poured forth on you, when you shall enter into Egypt; and you shall be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.


I will take the remnant of Yehudah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine; they shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine; and they shall be an object of horror, [and] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.


Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Yerushalayim, and on all the cities of Yehudah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells therein,


Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Yehudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.


Give wings to Mo'av, that she may fly and get her away: and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.


Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD; and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?


The nations shall know that the house of Yisra'el went into captivity for their iniquity; because they trespassed against me, and I hid my face from them: so I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they fell all of them by the sword.


Thus shall my anger be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I shall be comforted; and they shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.


Yes, all Yisra'el have transgressed your law, even turning aside, that they should not obey your voice: therefore has the curse been poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Torah of Moshe the servant of God; for we have sinned against him.


He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky has not been done as has been done on Yerushalayim.


Behold, I will crush you in your place, as a cart crushes that is full of grain.


You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, 'How have we wearied him?' In that you say, 'Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them;' or 'Where is the God of justice?'


What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath made for destruction,
