Go through, go through the gates; prepare you the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a banner for the peoples.


The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Yehudah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.


Now therefore, speak to the men of Yehudah, and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, saying, Thus says the LORD: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return you now everyone from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.


Afterward, says the LORD, I will deliver Tzidkiyahu king of Yehudah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.


I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.


behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and [I will send] to Nevukhadnetzar 1 the king of Bavel, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the shofar?


Declare you among the nations and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and don't conceal: say, Bavel is taken, Bel is disappointed, Merodakh is dismayed; her images are disappointed, her idols are dismayed.


A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.


Set up a standard against the walls of Bavel, make the watch strong, set the watchmen, prepare the ambushes; for the LORD has both purposed and done that which he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Bavel.


Set up a standard in the land, blow the shofar among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz: appoint a marshal against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough canker worm.


The sound of a cry from Bavel, and of great destruction from the land of the Kasdim!


Flee for safety, you children of Binyamin, out of the midst of Yerushalayim, and blow the shofar in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beit-Hakkerem; for evil looks forth from the north, and a great destruction.


Thus says the LORD, Behold, a people comes from the north country; and a great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.


Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause you them that have charge over the city to draw near, every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.


Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man in the midst of them clothed in linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar.


In that day, says the LORD, there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.


The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went forth toward the south country.*
