Behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ugly and thin, and stood by the other cattle on the brink of the river.


Against him came up Shalman'eser king of Ashur; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.


In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Ashur took Shomron, and carried Yisra'el away to Ashur, and placed them in Chalach, and on the Chavor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Madai.


Therefore the Lord, the LORD of Armies, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire.


What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?


They will only bow down under the prisoners, and will fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


The fortress shall cease from Efrayim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria. They will be as the glory of the children of Yisra'el,* says the LORD of Armies.


For it will be so in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.


From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, *I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!* The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.

The Lord sent a word into Ya`akov, and it falls on Yisra'el.


Therefore thus says the Lord GOD to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.


Thus says the LORD: *As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Yisra'el be rescued who sit in Shomron on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.*


The LORD will be awesome to them, for he will famish all the gods of the land. Men will worship him, everyone from his place, even all the shores of the nations.
