Rivka said to Yitzchak, *I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Chet. If Ya`akov takes a wife of the daughters of Chet, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?*


But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.


Why came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?


Judgment is come on the plain country, on Cholon, and on Yahtzah, and on Mefa`at,


From the cry of Cheshbon even to El`aleh, even to Yahatz have they uttered their voice, from Tzo`ar even to Choronayim, to Eglat-Shelishi-Yah: for the waters of Nimrim also shall become desolate.


Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I have driven them, says the LORD of Armies.


Therefore now, LORD, take, I beg you, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.*


It happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Yonah's head, so that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, *It is better for me to die than to live.*


If you deal thus with me, please kill me out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

for a fire has gone out of Cheshbon, a flame from the city of Sichon. It has devoured `Ar of Mo'av, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.


Then Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Yahatz.


and Yahatz, and Kedemot, and Mefa`at,


In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.


But Sichon didn't trust Yisra'el to pass through his border; but Sichon gathered all his people together, and encamped in Yahatz, and fought against Yisra'el.
