God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.


Therefore I swore in my wrath, *They won't enter into my rest.*


for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the day of Shabbat, and made it holy.


to whom he said, *This is the resting place. Give rest to weary;* and *This is the refreshing;* yet they would not hear.


Thus says the LORD, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [therein].


and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who disobey against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into Eretz-Yisra'el: and you shall know that I am the LORD.


that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, *I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.*


Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;


even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love;


as I swore in my wrath, 'They will not enter into my rest.'*


For we have become partakers of Messiah, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end:


or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
