In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.


when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his mitzvah, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;


Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?


Thus says God the LORD, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it.


Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens: when I call to them, they stand up together.

An oracle. The word of the LORD concerning Yisra'el. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him says:

This phrase, *Yet once more,* signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
