Ya`akov said, *Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.


They sat down to eat bread, and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and saw a caravan of Yishme`elim was coming from Gil`ad, with their camels bearing spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.


for if we hadn't delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.*


May El Shaddai give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Binyamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.*


The men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Binyamin; and got up, went down to Egypt, and stood before Yosef.


They made ready the present for Yosef's coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.


When Yosef came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves down to him to the earth.

A man void of understanding strikes hands, and becomes collateral in the presence of his neighbor.


A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.


Many will entreat the favor of a ruler, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.


A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.


How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine! The fragrance of your perfumes than all manner of spices!


spikenard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree; myrrh and aloes, with all the best spices,


Come away, my beloved! Be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices!


Is there no balm in Gil`ad? is there no physician there? why then isn't the health of the daughter of my people recovered?


The men of Dedan were your traffickers; many islands were the market of your hand: they brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.


Yehudah, and Eretz-Yisra'el, they were your traffickers: they traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnit, and confections, and honey, and oil, and balm.


The traffickers of Sheva and Ra`mah, they were your traffickers; they traded for your wares with the chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.


But I have said to you, *You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.* I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.


When he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, *The Lord's will be done.*

Now this present which your servant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord.


Then said Sha'ul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
