and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan-Aram 1, to go to Yitzchak his father, to the land of Kena`an.


Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esav: for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, and the mothers with the children.


Then Ya`akov was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;


and he said, *If Esav comes to the one company, and strikes it, then the company which is left will escape.*


Ya`akov lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esav was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Le'ah, Rachel, and the two handmaids.


Esav said, *Let me now leave with you some of the folk who are with me.* He said, *Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.*


Esav said, *What do you mean by all this company which I met?* Ya`akov said, *To find favor in the sight of my lord.*


Shekhem said to her father and to her brothers, *Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you will tell me I will give.


They said, *You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Par`oh's servants.*


As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.


Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your handmaid, though I am not as one of your handmaidens.


Rut the Mo'avite said to Na`omi 1, Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor. She said to her, Go, my daughter.


She said, Let your handmaid find favor in your sight. So the woman went her way, and ate; and her facial expression wasn't sad any more.
