Listen you to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Yisra'el, when they shall pray toward this place: yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.


The LORD said to him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me: I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.


All Yehudah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.


If evil come on us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.


Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Yehochanan the son of Elyashiv: and [when] he came there, he ate no bread, nor drank water; for he mourned because of the trespass of them of the captivity.


It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven,


Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Yisra'el your servants while I confess the sins of the children of Yisra'el, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father's house have sinned:


The rest of the people, the Kohanim, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the temple servants 1, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge, and understanding;


Nechemyah, who was the governor, and Ezra the Kohen the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to the LORD your God; don't mourn, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.


Streams of tears run down my eyes, because they don't observe your law.


I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.


But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for [your] pride; and my eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is taken captive.


Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!


While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Yisra'el, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;


Take words with you, and return to the LORD. Tell him, *Forgive all our sins, and accept that which is good: so we offer our lips like bulls.


I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.


They were immersed by him in the Yarden, confessing their sins.


When he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,


Cornelius said, *Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,


When it happened that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey. They all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. Kneeling down on the beach, we prayed.


that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.


Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and your foreigner who is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law;


Yehoshua tore his clothes, and fell to the dirt on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, he and the elders of Yisra'el; and they put dust on their heads.


There was not a word of all that Moshe commanded, which Yehoshua didn't read before all the assembly of Yisra'el, and the women, and the little ones, and the foreigners who were among them.
