18 They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Yisra'el, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD, our God.'

Now the LORD said to Avram, *Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.


One who had escaped came and told Avram, the Hebrew. Now he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amori, brother of Eshkol, and brother of `Aner; and these were allies of Avram.


After these things the word of the LORD came to Avram in a vision, saying, *Don't be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.*


When Avram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Avram, and said to him, *I am El Shaddai. Walk before me, and be blameless.


Ya`akov said to Yosef, *El Shaddai appeared to me at Luz in the land of Kena`an, and blessed me,


Also on Yehudah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the mitzvah of the king and of the princes by the word of the LORD.


Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.


Moshe and Aharon went in to Par`oh, and said to him, *This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Yisra'el with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile 1, and go.


In the third month after the children of Yisra'el had gone forth out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.


There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two Keruvim which are on the ark of the testimony, all that I command you for the children of Yisra'el.


He said, *Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.*


Go, and gather the elders of Yisra'el together, and tell them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Avraham, of Yitzchak, and of Ya`akov, has appeared to me, saying, *I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt;


and you shall beat some of it very small, and put some of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be to you most holy.


You shall put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you.


Moshe answered, *But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, 'The LORD has not appeared to you.'*


and I have said to you, *Let my son go, that he may serve me;* and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.'*


It happened on the way at a lodging place, that the LORD met him and wanted to kill him.


The people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Yisra'el, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.


Afterward Moshe and Aharon came, and said to Par`oh, *This is what the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, says, 'Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.'*


They said, *The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.*


You shall tell him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, *Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness:* and behold, until now you haven't listened.


The LORD spoke to Moshe, Go in to Par`oh, and tell him, *This is what the LORD says, 'Let my people go, that they may serve me.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Par`oh; behold, he comes forth to the water; and tell him, 'This is what the LORD says, *Let my people go, that they may serve me.


I will put a division between my people and your people: by tomorrow shall this sign be.*'*


Then the LORD said to Moshe, *Go in to Par`oh, and tell him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: *Let my people go, that they may serve me.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Par`oh, and tell him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: *Let my people go, that they may serve me.


You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways: behold, you were angry, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved?


Go, and cry in the ears of Yerushalayim, saying, Thus says the LORD, I remember for you the kindness of your youth, the love of your weddings; how you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.


Neither said they, Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that none passed through, and where no man lived?


to listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send to you, even rising up early and sending them, but you have not listened;


You shall lay them up in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.


According as we listened to Moshe in all things, so will we listen to you: only the LORD your God be with you, as he was with Moshe.
