The LORD appeared to Avram and said, *I will give this land to your seed.* He built an altar there to the LORD, who appeared to him.


Ya`akov rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.


then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God's house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give the tenth to you.*


Ya`akov took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.


Achiyah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.


Eliyahu took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Ya`akov, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Yisra'el shall be your name.


They offered at the dedication of this house of God one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Yisra'el, twelve male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Yisra'el.


Now those who sealed were: Nechemyah the governor, the son of Chakhalyah, and Tzidkiyahu,


The LORD said to Moshe, *Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Yehoshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of `Amalek from under the sky.*


Moshe built an altar, and called the name of it the LORD our Banner.


*Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them.


He took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, *All that the LORD has spoken will we do, and be obedient.*


The stones shall be according to the names of the children of Yisra'el, twelve, according to their names; like the engravings of a signet, everyone according to his name, they shall be for the twelve tribes.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Yisra'el.*


In that day, there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD at its border.


*You shall take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it: two tenth parts of an efah shall be in one cake.


Speak to the children of Yisra'el, and take of them rods, one for each fathers' house, of all their princes according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods: write you every man's name on his rod.


that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Yisra'el.*


and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, Ya`akov and Kefa and Yochanan, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Bar-Nabba the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.


Moshe wrote this law, and delivered it to the Kohanim the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Yisra'el.


Those twelve stones, which they took out of the Yarden, did Yehoshua set up in Gilgal.


and Yehoshua said to them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Yarden, and take up every man of you a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisra'el;


The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Emissaries of the Lamb.
