The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.


I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.*


Notwithstanding, they would not hear, but hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who didn't believe in the LORD their God.


*Hear, my people, and I will speak; Yisra'el, and I will testify against you. I am God, your God.


I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries, and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Yerushalayim! you will not be made clean; how long shall it yet be?


Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says the LORD.


In the house of Yisra'el I have seen a horrible thing. There is prostitution in Efrayim. Yisra'el is defiled.


I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and don't fear me,* says the LORD of Armies.


Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.


For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?


Know therefore, that the LORD your God doesn't give you this good land to possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.
