12 The LORD said to me, Arise, get you down quickly from hence; for your people whom you have brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.


Moshe said to the people, *Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.


When the people saw that Moshe delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aharon, and said to him, *Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.*


*Efrayim, what shall I do to you? Yehudah, what shall I do to you? For your love is like a morning cloud, and like the dew that disappears early.


I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Messiah to a different *good news*;


For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.


They have dealt corruptly with him, [they are] not his children, [it is] their blemish. [They are] a perverse and crooked generation.


Lest you corrupt yourselves, and make yourself an engraved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,


You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the day of Shabbat.


I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the LORD your God; you had made you a molten calf: you had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.


I prayed to the LORD, and said, Lord GOD, don't destroy your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.


Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.


But these speak evil of whatever things they don't know. What they understand naturally, like the creatures without reason, they are destroyed in these things.


Yet they didn't listen to their judges; for they played the prostitute after other gods, and bowed themselves down to them: they turned aside quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked, obeying the mitzvot of the LORD; [but] they didn't do so.
