Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow brass;


O LORD, don't your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them, but they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.


You have plowed wickedness. You have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies, for you trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty men.


They make promises, swearing falsely in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.


and I will cut off the judge from their midst, and will kill all its princes with him,* says the LORD.


*Indeed they don't know to do right,* says the LORD, *Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.*


You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:


Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.


Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make shalom.
