The king said to Yo'av the captain of the army, who was with him, Go now back and forth through all the tribes of Yisra'el, from Dan even to Be'er-Sheva, and number you the people, that I may know the sum of the people.


So the LORD sent a pestilence on Yisra'el; and there fell of Yisra'el seventy thousand men.


Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah began to number, but didn't finish; and there came wrath for this on Yisra'el; neither was the number put into the account in the chronicles of king David.


Over the division of the second month was Dodo the Achochi, and his division; and Miklot the ruler: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.


The angel of the LORD went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the camp of the Ashur. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
