Ben-Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, and horses and chariots: and he went up and besieged Shomron, and fought against it.


Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Yisra'el.


Then the king of Ashur came up throughout all the land, and went up to Shomron, and besieged it three years.


It happened in the fourth year of king Chizkiyahu, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Yisra'el, that Shalman'eser king of Ashur came up against Shomron, and besieged it.


It happened in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel came, he and all his army, against Yerushalayim, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.


On the ninth day of the [fourth] month the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.


Now the king of Syria was warring against Yisra'el; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.


If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall to the army of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.


Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-Hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come here.


There was a little city, and few men within it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it.


but I will send a fire into the house of Chaza'el, and it will devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.


They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you.
