Yitzchak came from the way of Be'er-Lachai-Ro'i, for he lived in the land of the South.


It happened after the death of Sha'ul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the `Amaleki, and David had abode two days in Tziklag;


it happened on the third day, that behold, a man came out of the camp from Sha'ul, with his clothes torn, and dirt on his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.


He said to me, Who are you? I answered him, I am an `Amaleki.


All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Kereti, and all the Peleti, and all the Gitti, six hundred men who came after him from Gat, passed on before the king.


They helped David against the band of rovers: for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.


For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.


then they took all the men, and went to fight with Yishma'el the son of Netanyah, and found him by the great waters that are in Giv`on.


The LORD said to Yehoshua, Don't be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Yisra'el: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

Sha'ul struck the `Amaleki, from Chavilah as you go to Shur, that is before Egypt.


He took Agag the king of the `Amaleki alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.


Then Akhish gave him Tziklag that day: why Tziklag pertains to the kings of Yehudah to this day.


Therefore now rise up early in the morning with the servants of your lord who have come with you; and as soon as you are up early in the morning, and have light, depart.


So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Pelishtim. The Pelishtim went up to Yizre`el.


But the princes of the Pelishtim were angry with him; and the princes of the Pelishtim said to him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where you have appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us: for with what should this [fellow] reconcile himself to his lord? should it not be with the heads of these men?


We made a raid on the South of the Kereti, and on that which belongs to Yehudah, and on the South of Kalev; and we burned Tziklag with fire.
