2 Then the king said to the prophet Nathan, “Here I am living in a house built of cedar, but God's Covenant Box is kept in a tent!”

Uriah answered, “The men of Israel and Judah are away in battle, and the Covenant Box is with them; my commander Joab and his officers are camping out in the open. How could I go home, eat and drink, and sleep with my wife? By all that's sacred, I swear that I could never do such a thing!”


The Lord sent the prophet Nathan to David. Nathan went to him and said, “There were two men who lived in the same town; one was rich and the other poor.


King Hiram of Tyre sent a trade mission to David; he provided him with cedar logs and with carpenters and stone masons to build a palace.


They brought the Box and put it in its place in the Tent that David had set up for it. Then he offered sacrifices and fellowship offerings to the Lord.


Nathan told David everything that God had revealed to him.


She was still speaking, when Nathan arrived at the palace.


But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David's bodyguards were not on Adonijah's side.

And Solomon continued, “My father David planned to build a temple for the worship of the Lord God of Israel,

They took the Covenant Box to the tent which David had prepared for it and put it inside. Then they offered sacrifices and fellowship offerings to God.


David said to him, “Son, I wanted to build a temple to honor the Lord my God.


The history of King David from beginning to end is recorded in the records of the three prophets, Samuel, Nathan, and Gad.


The Covenant Box, however, was in Jerusalem, kept in a tent which King David had set up when he brought the Box from Kiriath Jearim.)


The king followed the instructions that the Lord had given to King David through Gad, the king's prophet, and through the prophet Nathan; he stationed Levites in the Temple, with harps and cymbals,


The rest of the history of Solomon from beginning to end is recorded in The History of Nathan the Prophet, in The Prophecy of Ahijah of Shiloh, and in The Visions of Iddo the Prophet, which also deal with the reign of King Jeroboam of Israel.


Remember, Lord, what he promised, the vow he made to you, the Mighty God of Jacob:


until I provide a place for the Lord, a home for the Mighty God of Jacob.”


Then he put the Box in the Tent and hung up the curtain. In this way he screened off the Covenant Box, just as the Lord had commanded.


“My people, why should you be living in well-built houses while my Temple lies in ruins?


His disciples remembered that the scripture says, “My devotion to your house, O God, burns in me like a fire.”


He won God's favor and asked God to allow him to provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.
