Numbers 16:1 - Good News Translation (US Version)

1-2 Korah son of Izhar, from the Levite clan of Kohath, rebelled against the leadership of Moses. He was joined by three members of the tribe of Reuben—Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—and by 250 other Israelites, well-known leaders chosen by the community.

There in the desert they were jealous of Moses and of Aaron, the Lord's holy servant.


Levi had three sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari; they were the ancestors of the clans that bear their names. Levi lived 137 years.


Kohath had four sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.


Izhar had three sons: Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri.


I am the Lord your God; I brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.”


“Our father died in the wilderness without leaving any sons. He was not among the followers of Korah, who rebelled against the Lord; he died because of his own sin.


You recall what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab of the tribe of Reuben. In the sight of everyone the earth opened up and swallowed them, along with their families, their tents, and all their servants and animals.


How terrible for them! They have followed the way that Cain took. For the sake of money they have given themselves over to the error that Balaam committed. They have rebelled as Korah rebelled, and like him they are destroyed.
