And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.


and also for the innocent blood that he had shed. For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord would not pardon.


But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless.


O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear


he regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer.


For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:


For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him.


This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.


The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.


Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your heritage! Remember Mount Zion, where you have dwelt.


There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah


Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings,


And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.


For behold, the Lord is coming out from his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, and the earth will disclose the blood shed on it, and will no more cover its slain.


Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.


so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.


For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”


So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and he became impatient over the misery of Israel.
