Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!


For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.


He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.


Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.


For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.


The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.


he has driven and brought me into darkness without any light;


“I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit;


Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’


I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
