What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous?


On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother’s womb you have been my God.


Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.


Day and night they go around it on its walls, and iniquity and trouble are within it;


Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.


“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb;


You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and that from before birth you were called a rebel.


Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil on their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand.
