The God of Israel has spoken; the Rock of Israel has said to me: When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God,


So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.


Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.


Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise up against me;


Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice.


Then the Lord said to Moses, “Gather for me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you.


Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,


When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.


And when they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and began to teach. Now when the high priest came, and those who were with him, they called together the council, all the senate of the people of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
