Joab said, “I will not waste time like this with you.” And he took three javelins in his hand and thrust them into the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the oak.


And ten young men, Joab’s armor-bearers, surrounded Absalom and struck him and killed him.


And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the servants of the king.


I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling.


You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit; you are near in their mouth and far from their heart.

Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me its interpretation.


His power shall be great—but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction and shall succeed in what he does, and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints.
