He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.


For you, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.


And if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, I will be with you and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.


His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them.


O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.


When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,


You made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago.


Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.


I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.


For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the Lord, and there is no other.


“Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the Lord have created it.


They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of his hands.


Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with tambourines and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers.


Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.


For there is no enchantment against Jacob, no divination against Israel; now it shall be said of Jacob and Israel, ‘What has God wrought!’


Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him,


For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.


And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
