David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.


The Gibeonites said to him, “It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” And he said, “What do you say that I shall do for you?”


Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.


But if a man willfully attacks another to kill him by cunning, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.


And I will judge you as women who commit adultery and shed blood are judged, and bring upon you the blood of wrath and jealousy.


“Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death.


And if he struck him down with a stone tool that could cause death, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall be put to death.


“If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the evidence of witnesses. But no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.


And you shall accept no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the high priest.


“‘Cursed be anyone who strikes down his neighbor in secret.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
