Then David mustered the men who were with him and set over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.


And he said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall be for his life, and your people for his people.’”


Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”


And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.


And Aaron said, “Let not the anger of my lord burn hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.


Now Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it was burned up! And he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the surviving sons of Aaron, saying,


Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.


Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation went to meet them outside the camp.


Moses said to them, “Have you let all the women live?


Then the officers who were over the thousands of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, came near to Moses


Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,


And he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots.
