For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’


And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.


And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.


No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made.


And he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.


And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
