“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.


Her merchandise and her wages will be holy to the Lord. It will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the Lord.


At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus,


For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,


But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company and pleased Herod,


And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.


And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’


And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’


For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.


There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him,


Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles,


He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it.


Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.


For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.


All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.


and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work.
