For the Lord has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes (the prophets), and covered your heads (the seers).


They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand.


And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’


“Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house.


the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.


Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”


but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!


to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”


And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”


And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed


“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,


In that hour he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and on many who were blind he bestowed sight.


Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.


I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.


For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.


And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.


Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”


You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.


He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”


to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’


to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?


for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”


and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.


But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.


But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
