6 “Flee from the midst of Babylon; let every one save his life! Be not cut off in her punishment, for this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance, the repayment he is rendering her.

O Lord, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth!


Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.


Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it out to the end of the earth; say, “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob!”


For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and my year of redemption had come.


For many nations and great kings shall make slaves even of them, and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”


They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of the sword that I am sending among them.”


All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his own land comes. Then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.


That day is the day of the Lord God of hosts, a day of vengeance, to avenge himself on his foes. The sword shall devour and be sated and drink its fill of their blood. For the Lord God of hosts holds a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.


Flee! Save yourselves! You will be like a juniper in the desert!


Raise a shout against her all around; she has surrendered; her bulwarks have fallen; her walls are thrown down. For this is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance on her; do to her as she has done.


“A voice! They flee and escape from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, vengeance for his temple.


“Behold, I am against you, O proud one, declares the Lord God of hosts, for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.


“Flee from the midst of Babylon, and go out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as male goats before the flock.


“Sharpen the arrows! Take up the shields! The Lord has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because his purpose concerning Babylon is to destroy it, for that is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance for his temple.


Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her fountain dry,


“Go out of the midst of her, my people! Let every one save his life from the fierce anger of the Lord!


“You who have escaped from the sword, go, do not stand still! Remember the Lord from far away, and let Jerusalem come into your mind:


for a destroyer has come upon her, upon Babylon; her warriors are taken; their bows are broken in pieces, for the Lord is a God of recompense; he will surely repay.


We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country, for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.


“You will repay them, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.


And he spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.”


Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.


if I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and will repay those who hate me.


“Rejoice with him, O heavens; bow down to him, all gods, for he avenges the blood of his children and takes vengeance on his adversaries. He repays those who hate him and cleanses his people’s land.”


Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.


The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.
