You say, ‘I am pure, without transgression; I am clean, and there is no iniquity in me.


Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.


‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.


“And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, ‘Why has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’


How can you say, ‘I am not unclean, I have not gone after the Baals’? Look at your way in the valley; know what you have done— a restless young camel running here and there,


“Why do you contend with me? You have all transgressed against me, declares the Lord.


“Therefore I still contend with you, declares the Lord, and with your children’s children I will contend.


The clamor will resound to the ends of the earth, for the Lord has an indictment against the nations; he is entering into judgment with all flesh, and the wicked he will put to the sword, declares the Lord.’


I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon and enter into judgment with him there for the treachery he has committed against me.


I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died.
